Friday the 8th of September will go down as the worst travelling experience to a gig ever. We set out at Noon to get to the Village Hotel in Bury for 5pm, our gig start time was to be 7:30, plenty of time for a coffee and to get changed. And start the gig in a relaxed frame of mind. Tom Tom told us that the journey was to be 3 hours 32 minutes or thereabouts. With a couple of stops and some traffic that would proabably be nearer to 5 hours, getting to the hotel in a relaxed frame of mind. But that was not to be, oh no, the traffic was just north of horrendous, with traffic, roadworks, & accidents.

People, it's like a warzone out there, we thought at any moment Mad Max was going to come screaming out of nowhere. There were half a dozen accidents including 1 where someone had parked their KA on it's roof and were still dangling upside down with all the luggage pressed up against the window, we hope that everyone was ok.

And what is going on with all the road works? Mile after mile of the damned things and only one guy doing anything. Our theory is that it's just one gang of men who go from coned section to coned section doing what they can and then moving on. The joke of it is they have the reduced speed boards "40" but you crawl along at about 10! That's either them taunting you or the number of cars passing the sign per hour.

Anyhoo, the journey there, horrendous. The gig itself was about the best gig we have done, ever, ever. We rocked. No, really, we went down an absolute storm. Andy and Lou was sublime and ridiculous, I think it was because of the journey, I don't think we cared how bad the gig was going to be, anything would have been better than the journey to it. So we just said WTF we'll just go out and amuse ourselves and F@ck it.

Consequentially I think it loosened us up, and Lou and Andy did 50 mins to hysterical laughter which started when we got the DJ to announce us as:
"Ladies and Gentlemen your entertainment tonight Mr. Timmy Mallet!!!"

Chuckles when I come on as Lou looking for Andy with an empty wheelchair. Then Gav comes on as Andy, unbeknownst to me he's found a large palm in a pot backstage and has wandered back and forth behind the stage dragging this plant backwards and forwards with him and tyhe audience can see him through the doors leading onto the stage. He then comes on stage with it and sits in the chair, when I turn round I nearly wet myself. The audience is p#ssing themselves and it went from there. I asked someone who did their hair? (A really bald guy), He thought he was funny by coming back with "Bic" I topped him with "Do you draw the comb over on then?" Huge laugh (Bic makes razors and pens for those who can't fathom it). Vicky killed in Blind Date, Gav has such a great grasp of the whole Vicky patois. And Anne got the biggest cheer of the night when she did her first Eh Eh Ehhh after a long pause as she karaoke to Whitney Huston's I Will Always Love You.

We had people coming up to us at the end saying that they had seen the live show and we were funnier. They want us back, the woman who booked us told us she would have paid double (we'll see about that) and she will be recommending us for gigs at other hotels in the group. One woman said that she would have paid twice the price had she known how good we were. So to say we blew the roof off would not have been an understatement.
